What I need is a much bigger list of clickers than currently exists in the Habololy Handbook.
If you think of any possible clickers, please post them so I can add them to the handbook.
It is used to define terms that mean something different in the campaign world than they do inthe real world. It is also used to define words that refer to something different in the campaign world than in the real world.

An example of this would be The Depths, which on Habololy is used to refer to the specific place that in the bottom of the seas where intelligent creatures live.

Another example would be the word Corsair, which on Habololy specifically means sailing do-gooders opposed to pirates.

Do you think it would be helpful or interesting to complete a glossary?

If so, do you have any words that you think belong in it?

Do you think we are missing out...

I was going to put this under "Playing a Campaign in Habololy" but DMDerek had started another thread there and he asked me to put this in a different spot. He said he would move it later when his thread runs its course.

I would say a few times over the last year or two I have discussed this topic with DMDerek. However, I think it would be great for a thread to see what others think.

The idea that we were discussing was the concept of fleeing from combat and encounters in which we might be overmatched. I feel this is missing from our campaign. In every encounter we usually have a reasonable chance of winning and we are pretty evenly matched with our opponents. Which is a great compliment to our DM. However, I feel that by the way we play the game that we do not give the DM the option to give us an unblanced encounter where we have little or no chance of winning. I think this is sad because I think we miss out on the thrill of fleeing from a great evil that we must defeat at a later time. Right now I think we are in a vicious cycle where we reinforce each other ideas. We do not expect to DMderek to have an enounter that we must flee therefore we never plan to flee. DMDerek doesn't expect us to ever flee so he never has an encounter ready that we don't have a possibility to beat. I would love to break this cycle because I think we are missing out on part of a game that adds another component of excitement. Just like Frodo has to flee from the riders. He must use all his skills not be found. Another example is Luke Skywalker. There are many times that Luke and the crew must flee from Vader and the Empire because they are overmatched. However, eventually Luke becomes a Jedi Knight and he is able to go and face the Empire and along with his companions defeat them. I think it would be cool to meet our enemy in the beginning and realize their power and then it would only be more thrilling when we defeat that enemy later on in the campaign. Anyway I just wanted to see what you all thought about this concept and if you think you would like to see a little more "fleeing" be a part of our game (of course not too much because they idea can be over done but just some to get a different type of excitement from the story). Also let us know you think it is missing and if you don't think it is missing please give an example of when you saw it in a campaign.

Habololian Discoveries

I had a thought about what has and has not been discovered in the world. What would be known as fact on Habololy, and if not, what is believed in its place.

I will give two examples and we can discuss.

The first is gravity. Where does Habololy stand in the thinking of scholars and others? I will relate the choices to earth's time line of theories.

Pre-4th century BC; the best theory was that weight caused falling. That is basically it. Heavier falls faster. The theory of down is different from across or together.

Aristotle proposed that the earth is the center of all and everything wants to move to the center. Things move there in proportion to their weight. Also, elements have different weights in order: fire, air, water, earth. Once again, down is different from together or across.

In the late 16th century, Galileo's theory took hold. It determined that weight is mostly not a factor is downward speed. Objects continue to pick up speed as the fall, indefinitely. Once again, down is different from together or across.

About 100 years later, Newton surmised that gravity effects objects beyond earth. Explaining the moon and such. Now, down is not just down, it is together...relative

Then you get to the 1900's and Einstein theory of general relativity.

I will post the second example in another post.

For example, there is a list of deities, nations, Graplore winners, prestige classes, monsters in existance. I can come up with lists for anything, but I was wondering what you the players might find useful. Examples that I was considering: Best Magic Shops, Large Shipyards, Archmages, Diamond Mines, etc. I am mainly talking about lists that would be near common knowledge.

Playtest Prestige Classes

Any notes or questions about the current characters we are testing go here. Not that we don't normally do a good job of background, but the higher level calls for something different. For example, while I allowed you all to "buy" your magical items, it is more likely that you acquired them while adventuring. Some small story about how you got a potent magic item might go a long way to fleshing out the higher level character. Another interesting element to the backstory of a higher level character is what opponents have you defeated. Every higher level character has done more than guard the town or caravan or been an apprentive. Knowing who or what your character's toughest or greatest opponent was is another easy and interesting element.

Dragonfly

While Steve was DMing this past week, he mentioned a dragonfly.
Deity - A being that has influence of aspects of existence; that has worshippers; that can grant its most devout worsippers spells.

God - Slang and often derogatory term used in place of deity; used to refer to beings of great power that have no followers.

Religion - A system of living and beliefs based on a deity of the counsil.

Cult - A system of living and beliefs based on a deity not on the counsil.

Monotheism - Belief that only one deity exists. This is a term known by scholars, but never seriously used as the obvious presence of multiple deities makes it absurd.

Monodeism - Belief in the aspects of one particular deity as the most important, while acknowledging the others exist and have power. Applies to over 75% of the creatures of Habololy.

Polytheism - Belief that multiple deities exist. Assumed by most.

Polydeism - Belief that several deities have aspects that make up the best path. Applies to under 20% of the creatures of Habololy.

Atheism - The idea that no being has power that cannot be achieved by any mortal that gets lucky, works hard, etc. The deities were all once mortal, or at least not divine. Much like Monotheism, this is a term known by scholars, but never seriously used.

Agnosticism - The idea that since none of the deities encompass every aspect of existence, that none is deserving of worship. All deities fall short of the standards required for worship. Whether a deity exists that does is in question.

Paganism - Belief is a Quasi-Deity.

Let me know what you think, and if there are any other terms that you think should be defined for Habololy.
