I will award everyone 650 exp points. If anyone is wondering why this is lower then last time it is because last time I gave exp just to advance you to second level this time I gave out the exp based on everything you did. For next session which will probably be sometime in late August. I will be giving out experience based on what each individual persons does in the gaming session. I will give a base amount to everyone and then after that bonus experience will given for roleplaying. This can be a multiple of things but one thing I will be looking for is remembering to ask questions in characters and addressing the other Player Characters (PCs) or Non Player Characters (NPCs or characters run by the DM). I will also be looking for certain things that are hard to discribe but will be based on roleplaying. If I do notice anyone doing something that is in the spirit of the type of game I am attemting to run, when I post experience the next time I will post bonus experience for that person and what they did to receive. Just remember all the bonus experience is worth it for things such as making items & casting certain spells. Also I will take in to consideration many things when awarding experience such as your past experience in roleplaying (Sorry Derek ;P) Also for those of your who have your character sheets remember to right your experience on it. Everyone besides Selwyn should have 1650 (which includes the 650 from yesterday). Selwyn should have 1750.

I feel I could have done a better job in running the library portion of the adventure. I was expecting you to get more information and from that portion of the quest. So I will give an opprutunity for you to ask questions here about what you were researching.

The setup of the library 5th floor History (creation of the world, legends about heroes, nations)
4th floor Legends about Magic items and there creation
3rd Floor Magical Creatures, Demons, Undead, Outer planes(The places where devil and demons; angels and other creatures of pure good), Inner Planes (Earth, Air, Water, Fire, Postive and Negative Energy)
1rst and 2nd floor spells research and Misc.
Thing you have learned so far magic there are:
There 6 main magical gates which were used to create the world. There location are not found in this library.
Smaller gates can appear anywhere but are not stable. Clerics and learned wizards tend to try to keep track of this information and try to figure out where they might appear next.
There is also a book you used to scribed the information about how to charge the recepticals. I will give more details on that later.
Feels freee to ask any questions and I will post more information about what you find.
Also I will create another topic to for you guys to disguise out of character about what you feel your quest might be that way I can get an idea of what I am getting across to you. (ooc) Please

While in the library, I search for the names of any wizards that have found any of the gates in the past. Further, I focus on any of those wizards that might still be alive.

After reading through the books you find a story about a group of arcane casters that worship Cyrus and Galtharan. They were created right after the first great war when the forces of Sorgal were defeated. This group was created to protect the world whenever Sorgal's forces threaten it. Through the teachings of Cyrus and the blessing of Galtharan, the group of arcane casters, know as the Holy Vindicators, learned to channel magic directly from Galtharan realm in the Seven Heavens (Derek if you know a link or something I can give these guys to read about the D&D Cosmology that would be great).

You Learn the Spell Light of Lunia. It is a spell that creates a globe of light around to illumanite the area but you can expend some of the energy to shot bolts of pure light that damage creatures and do extra damage to undead.

There are know books specially about wizards would speciallize in gates. However, you find a book called Gates of Shealin Forest and learn the following

There are three type of gates that typical can be found inside the forest. Earth gates, Water Gates, Positive Energy Gates. Very rarely and under extreme circumstances can other gates be found. For example if a forest fire is large enough there is a chance a Fire Gate could be opened from the concentration of fire in the area or possibly the fire gate had opened and started the Fire.

Gates are invisible unless they are touched but the effects of the gate can be notice in the area surrouding the gates. The bigger the gate the large the area effected.

You also learn the bigger the gate the longer the gate last. Very small gates lasting as long as minutes to very large and prominent gates lasting along as centuries and sometimes even millenia.

To Find gates you must look for a large contration of things that are associate with that gate. For example a positve gate in the forest might produce an area with intelligient creatures, animate trees and plants. A water gate might be found near the rivers, or ponds or any place where water might be found in the forest. The larges known gate in the Southern Kingdoms is to the elemental plain of Air. Is is above Arrowhawk Bay and is guarded by of course Arrowhawks and Air elementals which are creatures native to the elemental plain of air.

The book was written by Aroth Starlak around 50 years ago

"Selwin, Draven, and Ecandor...do any of you know this forest well enough to take us through it to find a gate? Or do you think we should hire or find a willing guide?"

That having been asked, I do mention to everyone in the Library that survives a Detect Evil scrutiny that we need help looking through the forest for a gate (I don't mention which one).

While meandering around the forest would be a grand time, I don't know this forest well enough nor know enough about magic to know where to start. I suggest we search out a guide - or at least more information about the forest to give a starting point. (Draven)

I am skilled in traversing forrest terrain and I believe that ecandor's eagle companion may be able to assist us with scouting etc. That being said, if we encounter anyone with any profound knowledge of the forrest it would be much faster. OOC - Tom, would the "gate" that I traveled through when I was younger be similar in nature to the gates you described?

I will email you on the gate.

As you talk to people in the library you find out that most people have come through magic and do not have knowledge of the forest so it will be hard to find a guide.

However, when you are researching one day, Winston the librarian, notices that you have the book titled "Gates of Shealin". He tells you that Aroth Starlak is an elf that lives in Tavonia's Bastion and helps the High Temple with many of its arcane magical needs.

Also to help keep you update I just want to give you a few key points and expand on some of things you have learned so far to aid you in your research.

-You have learned that there 6 main elements gates one for each inner plane. These gates were used to create the world.
-You learned that the Dwarven royal family guards the Earth Gate. That might be why Jonas' wife was captured because she is a Dwarven Princess. -You have learned that Sorgal was a human who once worshipped one of the creator gods. In the begginning of the world the Creator Gods maintained the balance in the world and would only allow certain people to gain power within the church. For example if you worshipped the god of negative energy, Xyrin, then there must be a cleric of Orrin, the god of positive energy, that also wields the same power that way the balance was maintained. Sorgal did not like the restriction imposed by the Great Creators and decided to seek power and immortality on his own. Rumor has it that he searched the lower planes (The Abyss, and the Nine Hells) and learned the secrets of becoming a lich. He then started to gain power and eventually became a god himself. Galtharan rose up to fight against Sorgal and he also gained great power in this process and ascended to godhood. A war know as the great war started between Galtharan and Sorgal and the world was changed forever. These ascensions into godhood and the turmoil of the war caused many to question the Great Creators and the balance of the world was upset. During this time many other mortals rose to the status of God along with god being created just from the energy of people belief in an ideal.

- Through the research on the your items you have found that Galtharan constantly used his shield and Cyrus wielded powerful magic to defeat Sorgal. Tavonia, also used fought Sorgal along with Cyrus and Galtharan. Tavonia first joined Galtharan and Cyrus at a great battle that took place just out side this library. In the Caynon Just outside of the Libary Sorgal had attempted to open a gate to the Abyss to aid his forces in the war. Cyrus and Galtharan showed up to stop Sorgal. There was the fierce battle and Cyrus and Sorgal were starting to lose ground when out of a Shealin Forest came a figure in a cloak made of leaves wielding a maginificant bow. The figure was Tavonia's and this was rumored to be her first apperance in the world. No one is sure if Tavonia rose from the energy of the forest or was a mortal living in the forest. However, when she entered the battle the tides of battle greatly shifted and the forces of good Triumphed. Since then it has been know that the three gods have each lift a powerful magic item to the world. Galtharan left a shield, Cyrus left a spellbook, no one is quite sure exactly what Tavonia had left. Some say it must have been her bow others say it was the cloak.

If you have any questions about what you found out or if you don't understand something please let me know.
Also feel free to tell me any more subjects that you might search out at the library.
